experiment. is an Online and Virtual Exhibition Open Call by Gallery Informal which invites artists to showcase their unfinished, sketches, scrapped or rejected experimental artwork.

Gallery Informal is a project ran by the Meta Space Gallery to showcase artist sketches, unfinished works or projects, rejected work or scrapped work.

These works are usually not conventionally shown in an exhibition, however, they give incite to viewers or collectors who may wish to see how the artist works or the steps the artist may take into creating a finished work.

In 2025, it split from the Meta Space Gallery website and became a project on its own prior to being hosted on metaspacegallery.com from 2023 to 2024.

Successful Participants:

  • All successful participants will be notified on acceptance. We may ask a few questions before we accept your work into the exhibition to see if you’re a good fit for the exhibition.
  • All successful participants will be showcased on our new Gallery Informal Instagram account, our virtual and online exhibitions on the Gallery Informal website.

Fees:

There is no submission or participation fee for this opportunity if you apply with up to 2 artworks—a fee of £5 per artwork will apply after the second if you are accepted.

Up to 2 artworks: FREE! The 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th artwork will have a charge.

[Optional] Interview Fee:

There is an interview fee for a 10-question interview which amounts to a flat fee of £6.50 (for 10 questions or less).

You can request follow-up interview questions for £3.50 per every 10 follow-up questions.

You do not need to do the interview to be in the exhibition.

Online & Virtual Exhibition

The Online and Virtual Exhibition will be held from the 21st of March to the 4th of April 2025. The exhibition is held on our website.

Submission Guidelines

  • We are more likely to accept “finished art” submissions that have a link to a video of the artist creating the artwork so we can see how its made.
  • Do not send anything deemed discriminatory or hateful to any group of people.
  • Artworks must relate to the submission theme.
  • Artworks must be a sketch, unfinished work, rejected art or scrapped work. Basically anything that lets the viewer see the process of how you create your work.
  • You also permit us to post work you sent us on our website, articles, and social media.

We retain the right to remove your work from our website for whatever reason(s).

Terms and Conditions
