Hospitality Haiku - Poetry Zine
Deadline: 22/06/2019Region: Lancashire | Country: United Kingdom | Penny Thoughts
We are collecting Haiku's from artists and writers working in the hospitality industry to be published in a zine.
Hospitality Haiku
It is a familiar story now, an artist or writer making ends meet with a monotonous job in a hotel, restaurant or bar. A job to pay the bills and keep their artistic practise going.
We want to give these people a platform to create when on their cigarette or (extended) toilet breaks.
Poetry in the form of a Haiku can be scribbled on a napkin or receipt and can be a satisfying and meditative practise.
We want to see your Hospitality Haiku. They can be in relation to this line of work or can be more general.
Haikus traditionally reference nature in one form or another but I’m sure many of you never see the light of day never mind forests or rivers. So, let’s keep it simple and just stick to the format.
The format is simple:
---5 syllables---
---7 syllables---
---5 syllables---
Example:
Stare at a fixed point
In between the wash cycles
When the thinking’s done
We plan on collecting these poems to display in a Zine scheduled to be released this summer.
