Hull Print Fair 2017: call for stallholders!
Deadline: 01/09/2017Venue: Humber Street Gallery | City: Hull | Region: East Yorkshire | Country: United Kingdom | Lydia caprani
We are looking for talented artists, designers and illustrators to become stallholders at this year’s Hull Print Fair in the UK's City of Culture.
Hull Print Fair, an annual celebration of all things print, is set to take over Humber Street Gallery and neighbouring venues along the street in October. With a focus on contemporary illustration and design, the collective of 20 northern artists will sell artwork showcasing a diverse range of artistic styles and print mediums such as screenprints, linocuts, etchings and more. Expect to see pop up exhibitions and workshops in a weekend of pure print and graphic design love.
We are looking for talented artists, designers and illustrators, who use printmaking in their practice, to become stallholders at this year’s Hull Print Fair.
The fair will take place on 21 & 22 October 2017 in the city’s new contemporary art space, Humber Street Gallery; the heart of Hull UK City of Culture’s cutting edge art exhibitions and events. Printmaking workshops will accompany the event, as well a student print exhibition, 2 minute portraits and a lucky dip for charity. Stalls are £20 per day. This is to cover our operating costs including workshops, marketing, furniture hire, and space dressing.
To give more artists the oppotunity to promote their work, we would prefere artists to have a stall for just one day. However we may allow some stallholders to attend the full weekend if the availability is there or becomes available. Please note your preference of which day(s) you would like to attend in the additional information section of the application.
Artists will be chosen based on quality of work, pricing and selected to ensure a diverse range of print processes, styles and disciplines are represented. There are limited places available and we want to represent both local talent and artists practicing in the North to establish new connections and showcase new work to a Hull audience. Stallholders must have their own Public Liability Insurance and evidence of this must be attached to this completed application form alongside images of work for sale. PLI can be obtained through A-N membership. Successful applicants are committing to been available on the day and refunds are not available. Invoices for stall fees will be sent to stallholders shortly after the selection process and must be paid in advance of the print fair.
We wish all artists the best with their application.
2 Min Portraits
We are also looking for illustrators and artists who are capable of doing fun, interesting portraits of the general public in 2 minutes. Artists need to be engaging and friendly and will be given a 2 hour ‘shift’ during the day, charging £2 per portrait. Artists keep all profits. A table will be set up especially for the artist, in the gallery’s café adjacent to the print fair. Paper and sharpies will be provided. If you are interested please state in the additional information section. We will be choosing artists who best fit the activity and represent a range of styles for our audience.
Contact the curator
We are currently run on a voluntary basis and any profits will go towards the next year’s programme to create more opportunities for artists working in print: to deliver workshops for the public, host print exhibitions, attend masterclasses and access printmaking facilities through grants. Hull Print Fair aims to increase the appetite for print in Hull and put a spotlight on local artists, but also create opportunities by partnering up with, and promoting, talent across the North.
