Call for entries! 13b is looking for photography submissions for their international exhibition ‘Lumen’. This is a great opportunity to expand your network and get greater exposure by exhibiting your work in front of an international audience.

As the winter darkness settles in, 13b is seeking photographic submissions for our upcoming exhibition celebrating the vibrant brilliance of neon, fluorescent, and glow-in-the-dark art.

From commercial signboards to high-art interventions, LUMEN explores the evolution of hyper-saturated colour. Electric illumination first transformed the 20th-century nocturnal landscape, but 1960s Minimalist and Pop pioneers liberated neon from advertising—turning glowing gas and high-visibility acrylics into sculptured media.

Today, as digital displays habituate us to backlit RGB screens, contemporary artists deploy piercing electric pinks, radiant blues, acid greens, blazing oranges, and vivid yellows to bridge physical and virtual space. These saturated hues carry a distinct modern charge: evoking urban urgency, digital overload, and synthetic environments all at once.

In the depths of winter, when natural light wanes, this exhibition will gather lens-based artists who use neon light to investigate themes of identity, intimacy, urban memory, and emotional sanctuary. Piercing the long seasonal nights, the selected photographs will serve as beacons, showing how vivid artificial light creates space, warmth, and connection in the dark.

Submission Details:

Artists can submit up to 3 images from which ONE will be selected for the show.

Successful artists will be asked to email us a high-resolution image of the chosen work.



Selected artists will have their work displayed in a 4-week-long exhibition in our gallery, with their work also appearing online on our social media pages with a link to their websites.



We will print all images A4 size, and each photograph will also be individually mounted and framed, so no need to post anything.



Every contribution must be an original artwork.



Submissions are FREE.  



If your work is selected, there will be a participation fee of 24 euros via PayPal to help us cover the cost of printing/installation materials and admin/marketing, including flyers and the public PV.

Successful artists will be asked to confirm participation by paying the fee of 24 euros within 3 days of acceptance (so no later than Oct 14th)
