Liverpool Artists' Book Fair 2016
Deadline: 28/02/2016Venue: Central Library | City: Liverpool | Region: Merseyside | Country: United Kingdom | Liverpool Book Art
Liverpool Book Art are excited to announce that we have two major events taking place in the summer of 2016: our third Liverpool Artists' Book Fair, and our second Exhibition of book art. Both events will be held in Liverpool’s spectacular Central Library. The 3rd Artists’ Book Fair will take place on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th July 2016. There will be around 30 tables of artists' work for sale. Applications are invited from individual book artists; artist collectives & groups; small press publishers; colleges/universities; and specialist trade suppliers. We have chosen these dates as it is the opening weekend of the Liverpool Biennial, when thousands of cultural visitors come to Liverpool. The second Liverpool Book Art Exhibition will be on show throughout the whole of June and July 2016. As 2016 is the 400th anniversary of the death of Shakespeare, we invite artists to submit works with a Shakespearean theme.
Liverpool Book Art is inviting submissions for tables for the third Liverpool Artists' Book Fair. We are excited that the fair will again be held at the Liverpool Central Library in the Discover area, located on the ground floor. Dates are Friday 8th July (11am-6pm) and Saturday 9th July (10am-5pm).
With around 30 tables available we are looking to showcase a diversity of approaches and artist practices, for sale at a range of prices. We want to focus on unique and limited edition works (including sculptural works), and also include a selection of small press publications and other examples of book art.
Liverpool Art is also inviting submissions from artists who wish to participate in the second major Liverpool Book Art Exhibition being held in the Liverpool Central Library throughout June and July. The first Liverpool Book Art Exhibition was a fantastic success, attracting international submissions of the highest quality. These were displayed alongside examples of early artists’ works and fine bookbinding from the Library’s specialist collection. In 2016, the Library will organise an exhibition of its own collection of Shakespearean items in the spring. Our Book Art Exhibition will follow on from that.
Submissions for the fair, exhibition or both are welcome, but please be clear to us what you are applying for! Also be aware that the Exhibition will still be on during the Fair, so any unique works included in the Exhibition can’t also be shown on your Fair table.
We are keen to offer demonstrations, workshops and performances during the course of the exhibition and the fair. There will also be opportunities to create larger site-specific work to display in the Hornby Room. Please contact Simon Ryder with your proposals.
