What does it mean to narrate a city? A smell, a colour, a square, a historical wound, a daily ritual.
From Tokyo to Lagos, from Naples to Buenos Aires, every city is a manifold of signs, cultures, architectures, tensions and identities. Like a contemporary Wunderkammer, Curio-cities: 49 cities x
49 drawers is a container that collects and protects urban stories made of matter, memory and form.
Each drawer is like a display case, a box, an archive: relics, symbols, scraps, miniatures, impressions and images that give back a fragment, a detail, the soul of cities as in a disorderly but fascinating atlas.
A mobile-museum of contemporaneity made of editions, ready to be touched, bought, collected.
OPEN CALL
On the occasion of the forthcoming opening of the Museo delle Città del Mondo (Museum of World Cities) at the Convento dei Crociferi in Via Maqueda 206 in Palermo, Farm Cultural Park is launching an open call aimed at emerging Italian and international artists.
49 artists will be selected to design reproducible artworks inspired by the theme of Cities of the World. Each design will be produced in a limited edition of 10 copies by our production team.
The works must be reproducible, saleable and sustainable, and must physically fit within the project's standard dimensions: 25.5 x 12 x 50 cm (maximum dimensions of the drawer that will house each artwork).
The 49 designs produced (each in an edition of 10) will be kept and sold in a special display in the physical shop of Museo delle Città del Mondo.
