Uncovered is an art collective whose objective is to showcase established and upcoming artists and offer a snapshot of current art practice, we achieve this by holding an annual exhibition at Safehouse, Peckham and publicising the featured artists through our social media. We are pleased to announce the details of our upcoming show...Hypernormalisation.

"Hypernormalistion is a state of being where people have become increasingly accustomed to bizarre and surreal events no longer seeing them as abnormal.

Characterised by a form of cognitive dissidence typified by people continuing to act as normal even though they know society is breaking down and the system around them is collapsing."

Originally founded in 2017 by a group of practising artists whilst studying at Wimbledon College of arts with the core objective of sharing costs to make exhibiting our work more financially viable.

After graduation, we decided to continue and expand the project to maintain and nurture the many benefits that come from artists networking and collaborating with other creatives.

We have previously organised eleven exhibitions across London in a variety of venues (click here for the full list). We tend to attract around 200 people for the private view adding another 100 during the course of the exhibition.

As a collective we are not a commercial venture. Instead, we try to create rich artisic environments, curating a show of eclectic works that compliment and are in dialogue with each other with the aim of showcasing art rather than pursuing the hard sell.

Over the last few years, we have settled on Safehouse as a venue as its many rooms give us the opportunity to highlight a variety of mediums and a breadth of styles.

We are particularly interested in site-specfic work, that is work that responds to or is in dialogue with the location in which it is shown, in this case the Safehouse itself.

Although, ALL work will be considered - this includes performance and film & video (although due to the equipment needed there are limited spaces for this type of work).

The exhibition will be held Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September with the Private View being held on Friday 26th, between 6 and 9 pm.

Full details to be found in the FAQ's section .

As Uncovered Collective is a not-for-profit organisation it is entirely free to submit work.

The cost of the exhibition is then split amongst the participating artists.

This years contribution is £60.00

You can submit up to 3 artworks, although only one will be selected for the show.

Please fill out an individual form for each work submitted.

As well as the benefit of networking with fellow artists you will also have your work seen by a wider audience both at the venue and then online.

We promote all the featured artists via our Instagram account with 1344 followers . curate the show, set up and take down, including individually lighting each work, provide wine for your guests during the private view and finally document your work and archive it online.
