“Moving Stories: Transitions” is a touring exhibition showcasing the stories of those who have experienced migration in London; those who have travelled and those whose communities, churches and lives have been changed by the movement of others. The exhibition will aim to challenge some of the issues surrounding migration in London, opening the conversation up about the media’s portrayal of migration whilst giving a voice to actual migrants and in the process celebrating what migration brings to London.

Brief

Applecart are looking for works relating to the theme of migration in London to be included in a touring exhibition. The artwork can take any form but must be able to be exhibited in a number of differing indoor locations and withstand transportation. The artwork must be available for exhibition between 28th March 2019 and August 2019.

Target Audience

The exhibition will be mainly hosted in church venues and the likely audience will be people directly involved with the church as well as people who are sympathetic to the Christian faith.

Site for Exhibition

Works will be displayed as part of a touring temporary exhibition. Exhibition venues could include Methodist churches, halls and community centres. Works will need to be transportable between exhibition sites and should not be so large as to be unable to fit within a van, as the exhibition is touring to many different venues of varying size. Temporary exhibition boards and plinths will be used as the main structures to display works. The curator reserves the right to exclude some artworks from a venue if it’s size or features are physically unsuitable for the venue. All works must have had a risk assessment and must last the duration of the tour.

Timeframe:

The artworks will be selected by the 25th February and all artworks must be ready and delivered to Applecart by 28th March 2019. The artwork must be available for exhibition between 28th March 2019 and August 2019.

Fee:
Successful applicants will receive a one-off fee of £200.
