Virtual Solo Exhibitions.

GRADCURATE is an Edinburgh-based grassroots platform for recent graduate artists to showcase their work.

Driven by a desire to support graduates stuck ‘in limbo’ between student and professional life, the project seeks to assist artists in navigating this increasingly difficult career stage by:

  • Inviting recent graduates to display work in a series of group pop-up exhibitions, allowing the cost of exhibition space hire to be shared at an affordable rate. *
  • Undertaking all curatorial work and liaising with galleries on the artists’ behalf, minimising the time and effort required of them in the exhibition planning process.
  • Allowing artists to keep 100% of profits made by taking no commission on sales.
  • Promoting the artists’ work through its online platforms.

Virtual Solo Exhibitions
................................................

Following the first GRADCURATE exhibition in March 2020, it was hoped that another one would take place in Edinburgh that summer. However just days after the exhibition finished, the UK went into lockdown amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, the second exhibition was delivered as a series of virtual gallery spaces.

Due to continuing pandemic restrictions, plans for further exhibitions in Edinburgh are still on hold. In the meantime, artists who have graduated within the last five years are invited to take part in a programme of smaller virtual solo shows.

Successful applicants will be expected to prepare content for a minimum of 6 posts for an Instagram takeover, to go out during the course of their exhibition.

Please check the FAQs section for more information. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline is open-ended. You are therefore encouraged to apply as early as possible, as applications may close at any time without prior notice.

* There are no participation fees for virtual exhibitions.
