Opportunity to submit written work of any form on the theme of housing; shared spaces; artist studios or analogue processes. The selected texts will be printed in a hand bound exhibition catalogue.

The Bathroom Darkroom Project is a temporary darkroom set up within a shared rented house as on opportunity for photographers to use the facilities to make work. We will be producing a publication to commemorate the residency and invite written submissions to accompany the images produced by participants.

The written work can take any form but must relate to the themes of the project; either looking at the home, private/ public spaces, shared housing and the housing crisis or artist studios, analogue processes, working within a darkroom or any other topics that you think may be suitable.

This catalogue will be produced in a limited run of hand bound books and to thank you for your contribution you will receive a copy. We will also be holding a preview of the exhibition and the launch of the publication in April in a gallery attached to Manchester School of Art.

If you would be interested in producing new work or have an existing piece of writing that you think may be suitable please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions. More work from the project can be found at www.instagram.com/bathroomdarkroomproject/.

Are there payments to artists?
Unfortunately we are unable to pay artists, although you will receive a copy of the finished publication.
What happens if my work is chosen?

Is there a private view/ opening?
Yes, the private view and catalogue launch will take place on April 27th in Manchester.
Why do you require a biography and website?
The biography and website will be listed in the publication and on the project website to allow people to find out more about the artists involved and get in touch; the work selected will be based on what best suits the project and not the experience of the applicant. If you would prefer to remain anonymous or don't have a website or blog just leave the section blank.
