**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT PLEASE BE AWARE** due to unforeseen circumstances at the Inverness Botanical Gardens, the exhibition dates have been amended from 1st June - 14th July TO 1st July - 31st August 2024. This has altered the submission, opening evening & closing evening dates. Sincerest apologies for any inconvenience.

Nature Galleries has teamed up with the Inverness Botanical Gardens and is looking for artists to display 2D artworks in the Cafe Botanics space. This is a great opportunity for artists wanting to expand their exposure outside of their current area and exhibit in a busy café with high footfall. The cafe is open daily from 9.30am - 4pm. The exhibition will run from Monday 1st July - Saturday 31st August 2024.

The theme will be ‘Rewilding’ and centred around environmental awareness and conservation of Scotland’s native Flora. Artists are encouraged to challenge their use of concept, material and medium to fit the title of the exhibition. 

Successful participants will be announced MONDAY 17TH JUNE 2024 at 11am.

The opportunity does come with a small prize fund in the form of:

1st prize – £250 cash prize courtesy of Scotrail

2nd prize – £150 cash prize   

3rd prize – Bottle of Cadboll Estate, courtesy of Glenmorangie Cadboll House, Tain.  

Winners of 1st - 3rd prize will be announced at the exhibition opening Friday 5th July 2024, 5.30pm - 7.30pm 

Public choice award – prize donated from The Walrus & Corkscrew, Inverness. 

Winner announced on closing night Saturday 31st August 2024, 5.30pm - 7.30pm 


Terms and Conditions, please read before submission:

  • Submission fees - £10 for one work/ £15 for two works to apply - these are non-refundable. Two artworks Maximum.

  • Open to artists living and working in Scotland. 

  • Original 2D work in the form of drawing, painting, photography or prints accepted. 

  • AI-generated work will not be accepted. 

  • Maximum artwork size (including frame) 100 x 100cm

  • Provide a short description of your work (250 words maximum) and how it is connected to the theme ‘Rewilding’.  

  • The work can be offered for sale during the exhibition; there will be a commission charge of 20% of the sale price going to the Inverness Botanical Gardens. Please include the price (if you would like to sell it): if your work is not for sale, please state NFS. 

  • Please feel free to include some business cards

  • It is the artist's responsibility to ensure their work is insured, The Botanical Gardens is not responsible for damages. 

  • All work must be fully framed unless it is a stretched canvas and ready to hang with 2x D-rings on the back of all work. (Any work failing to comply will incur a £7 fee.) 

  • All work must be sufficiently and safely packaged. We cannot accept responsibility for any damages occurring in transit. Artists must ensure they have return postage included when shipping work in the event of a no-sale.

  • Artwork must be labelled clearly on the reverse with your name and artwork title. Please also include an arrow indicating which way up it is to be hung. 

  • It is recommended to show work in the region of £50 - £400 for a higher chance of a sale.

  • By taking part in the exhibition, you agree that your images can be used for any publicity material (social media and/or printed material like flyers or posters, etc.).

Submission fees

The following submission fees apply to this opportunity.

  • 1 x Artwork Submission Fee - 10.00 GBP
  • 2 x Artwork Submissions Fee - 15.00 GBP

The appropriate fee will be payable using a debit or credit card after the first submission has been completed. If the submission fee allows you to submit more than once, you will be able to make further submissions after the first.
