Penny Thoughts is a free newsletter publication that is distributed around Manchester and now further afield including an online presence. We print a new issue fortnightly and have published 18 issues so far and are looking for artists / writers / thinkers / procrastinators to submit to our upcoming issue! This issue will have a place in an upcoming exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery starting the 17th of May!

Penny Thoughts is a one page, double sided publication printed in RISOgraph in Manchester. One side acts as a stand alone artwork by a selected artist. Side two acts as a series of writing, poems, illustrations or general aphorisms, these are compiled in columns.

The aim of Penny Thoughts is for the artists / writers to not let their ideas go to waste. Ideas that they may think are disposable we want to hear about. We distribute the publication around Manchester on buses, in cafes and bars or in newspapers, and now around the country! Our aim is to give a commuter, a person on lunch break or just somebody wondering around town an oppurtunity to read something enlivening and take a piece of artwork home with them. 

We are requesting submissions in the form of short form writing or poetry and artworks that could work scaled down. If you are unsure about whether your work would be suitable for the format don't hesitate to get in touch with us!

N.B. Remember the format is SINGLE COLOUR RISOGRAPH, so consider how your submissions would translate to this medium.
