Prompted: an online exhibition of work by BAMM members in response to six "Prompts from the Pros"

This year, the annual British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM) Forum is going online. BAMM warmly invites all members to submit their work for inclusion in the exhibition, which will open on Friday 9th October during an online 'Private View' event. We are hoping to receive lots of submissions so that we can create an interesting and exciting exhibition to represent BAMM members from across all regions. The exhibition will run from Saturday 10th October through to Saturday 5th December, 2020.

We are celebrating the strength of staying connected and inspiring each other creatively through the challenging Covid-19 lockdown. During the lockdown, a series of "Prompts from the Pros" were provided by professional mosaic artists and shared on BAMM's social media to encourage creativity. These prompts now form the basis for our online exhibition. Submissions can be work that was made when the prompts were first shared or it can be new work that you create and photograph in the coming weeks.

You must be a BAMM member to make a submission and each member may enter a maximum of two pieces of work @ £10/item submitted. Please send a separate from for each submission. If you are not currently a member of BAMM and would like to take part, details of how to join are on the BAMM website. The BAMM Exhibition committee will endeavour to include all works submitted, provided that the submission meets the specified requirements. BAMM reserves the right to exclude work if, for example, the images submitted do not meet the required spec or if the volume of submissions exceeds the online gallery capacity.

The photographic images of your finished piece(s) should be of the highest possible quality. Please use a plain, white background and natural light if possible. Images should be between 1500 and 2500 pixels wide along their longest side and at a maximum size of 500 kb so that they don't take too long to upload. We are building the gallery on a bespoke SquareSpace website - you can read the full guidance for images here

Work must be your own original mosaic work that responds to one of the following prompts:

1.     Make a Mosaic Virus – Helen Miles

2.     Go Small – Rachel Sager

3.     Only One Thing – Julie Sperling

4.     Team up – Marian Shapiro

5.     Transitions – Kelley Knickerbocker

6.     Monochrome - Marian Shapiro

Additional details can be found on the BAMM website.

If you would welcome sales enquiries, please also provide the selling price for your work and note how potential buyers can contact you or mark it as NFS (not for sale). BAMM will not be involved in any sales of work from the exhibition and will not take any commission.

The professional artists who created the prompts for us are being invited to select works of outstanding merit from the exhibition. Certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finalists as well as a “People’s Choice” award.
