An exhibition of protest, with A4 sized works or smaller.

Fronteer Gallery are looking for submissions to their pop-up exhibition PROTEST. With our right to protest in the UK under threat, we would like to host an exhibition of work which shouts out in protest for causes close to your heart.

Artists are invited to submit A4 sized work (or smaller) which make your protest. Think placards, posters, banners, or however you would like to make your protest piece of work. We want this exhibition to be inclusive and intend to take every submission that meets the criteria, if possible. Artists will be informed if their work has been accepted soon after they submit, and they will be asked to pay £5 submission fee.

Artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of work each. Work must be unframed. Your submission will be reviewed and if everything meets the submission criteria you will be asked to pay your submission fee and send your work to the address provided in your acceptance email.

The exhibition will run for 3 days from 1st – 3rd September, with a private view evening on Wednesday 1st September if government restrictions at the time allow us to do so.

The submission deadline is 26th July.

Work needs to arrive by 16th August. Work should be posted along with a stamped, addressed envelope for the return postage of your work you after the exhibition.

Work must be 2D and no bigger than A4 sized. Work should be sent with the Royal Mail ONLY, or dropped off in person during gallery opening hours. To find out more about why we can only accept work sent with the Royal Mail please get in touch.

The gallery is open Wednesdays – Saturdays.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

How to Submit

Artists are invited to submit A4 sized work (or smaller) on the theme of protests. You are welcome to make up to 3 separate submissions which cost £5 each. Do this by creating a separate submission form for each piece of work.

Work must be unframed and should be made on paper, card, or thin lightweight board.

Work should not have any hanging attachments, and we will hang work ourselves using low tack sticking strips, so please be aware that this will be attached to the back of your work and could potentially damage the back.

Please ensure that your name is written on the back of each piece of work or on a separate slip of paper which should accompany your work.

Work must be complete at the time of submission.

Information about your work will include your name, title, media, and price, and will be displayed on sheets of wall text with a corresponding number displayed next to your work.

Work can be offered for sale during the exhibition, and there is a commission charge of 5% to cover banking costs incurred by the gallery from sales.

Please include a stamped addressed envelope along with your work to allow for the return of your work. If you wish to have your work returned by another means of postage (e.g. recorded delivery) we charge a small handling fee on top of the cost of the postage.

All work must be complete at the time of submission, and must fit the dimensions specified. Any work which varies from the original piece submitted may be rejected. If you wish to submit a print, it will be your responsibility to print it off before posting it to us.

Thank you and good luck!

Michael and Sharon (The Fronteer Team)
