We are now accepting entries for our exhibition 'Still Celebrating Yorkshire' at the Badger in the Wall Gallery located in Clapham, North Yorkshire. With Yorkshire Day on the 1st August, and to honour the county the Gallery is based in, we are encouraging submissions that are Yorkshire themed and celebrate both the county and ways of life. It is free to submit.

Badger in the Wall Gallery is looking for work to feature in our month exhibition 'Still Celebrating Yorkshire' where we are encouraging submissions of of all mediums. This is a direct follow up to our successful 'Celebrating Yorkshire' exhibition held last year.

Work can be anything with a connection to Yorkshire, from the industrial heartlands and inner cities to the fabulous countryside, coastline and our National Parks. So help us continue to celebrate Yorkshire with this month long exhibtion.

Any medium will be considered, and artists are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of artwork they would like to put forward for the exhibition.

If you have never participated in an exhibition before and are not quite sure where to start, then we would love to see your submission. Likewise, if you are an exhibition regular, again, we want to see your work.

Artists who are selected will have their work displayed in our gallery for the duration of the exhibition, in an online gallery on our website, and printed in the exhibition programme, which will be available to purchase from the gallery or can be posted out.

About the Gallery & Our Exhibitions

Badger in the Wall Gallery opened its doors to the public in May 2024. We are a rural independent gallery and  have a fantastic exhibition space inside our converted barn. The Gallery is based in the village of Clapham, North Yorkshire, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The village is a key tourist destination with local attractions such as Ingleborough Cave, Ingleborough Nature Trail, Gaping Gill Cave and the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.

One of our key aims on establishing the gallery was to provide true open call exhibitions in the area and give an oppotunity to as many artists as possible to exhibit their work to a new audience.

To date we have exhibited work from over 280 different artists and many of these have returned for multiple exhibitions. For many of these artists it has been the first time that they have exhibited in a formal exhibition and, for those choosing to sell their work, it has also been the first time they have sold some of their work.

We usually select between 50 to 70 artists for each exhibition depending on the theme and size of artwork submitted.

Whilst we love to make sales for our artists and send artwork off to their forever homes, we are also just as happy to exhibit work that is not for sale.

We usually have a good proportion of each exhibition where artists are looking just to exhibit their work, and actually do not make it for sale.

For those that do have their work on sale, we usually sell on average between 10-15% of the exhibition pieces and have a footfall of 500-700 visitors in a normal month long exhibition.

Of course sales figures can vary depending on the theme of the work and footfall does have some seasonal variation during busier holiday periods.

We are keen to build lasting partnerships with our returning artists and for many we stock and sell their prints and greeting cards on a long term basis.

We also held an invitational exhibition for those artists who were ever-present in our 2024 exhibitions, as well as awarding cash prizes in our 2024 Autumn Open.

For more information follow the Gallery on our social media channels or if you have specific questions then please get in touch directly.
