The Gallery at Slaithwaite is looking for artwork (any medium) for a selling group exhibition, which will run for two months (Nov-Dec 2023). The theme is landscapes and landmarks of the Colne Valley and its surrounding areas within a ten-mile radius.

Founded in 2013, The Gallery at Slaithwaite was opened to provide a creative space for local people to exhibit and sell their work. To celebrate The Gallery's tenth anniversary, local artists, and its beautiful location in the heart of the Colne Valley, The Gallery is hosting a selling group exhibition. The theme is landscapes and landmarks of the Colne Valley and its surrounding areas within a ten-mile radius.

The exhibition will run at The Gallery for two months, from Thursday 2nd November 2023 to Saturday 24th December 2023. The private view will take place on Wednesday 1st November 2023, 4pm - 7pm, with drinks.

We welcome submissions from all, whether you are a professional artist or someone giving it a go for the first time. We invite you to submit up to THREE artworks, these can be any medium, including: paint, photography, print, collage, textiles and embroidery. The artwork can be displayed in a frame, on a canvas (any shape), even in an embroidery hoop.

Framed artworks must be ready to hang with the picture wire/cord already attached (no mirror plates). The artworks must be no bigger than 14 inches across any one side (which strictly includes frames). Selected artists will be invited to produce multiple mounted prints of their artworks (sizes of mounted prints to be confirmed).

The submission deadline is midnight 20th September 2023. Successful artists will be contacted by 30th September 2023. All work must be complete at the time of submission. Any work which varies from the original piece submitted may be rejected.

Successful artists must deliver work in person. Artwork can be delivered on the following dates.: 19th, 20th, 21st, or 22nd October 2023,  between 10.30am and 4pm. Work must be collected in person, from The Gallery at Slaithwate, on any of the following dates: 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th January 2024, between 10.30am and 4pm.

If you have any issues with these dates, please contact us before applying.

The exhibition is free to enter. As a selling show all works must be for sale, maximum price for an artwork is £250. Successful artists will be required to pay a £20 exhibiting fee and all artworks and prints sold will incur a commission charge of 30%. Please consider these costs when pricing your artworks and mounted prints.

We will be selling off the wall. This means that not everything will be exhibited at the same time. Works will be replenished as artworks sell. This enables buyers to take their purchase home straight away and it gives visitors incentive to make repeat visits. If you have multiple artworks selected for the exhibition they may not all be displayed at the same time.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Thank you and good luck!
