Temporary Contemporary is a partnership project between Kirklees Council (Markets and Creative Economy Teams) and the University of Huddersfield, (School of Art, Design and Architecture). From 8 - 16 June WOVEN celebration of innovation in textiles across Kirklees and Temporary Contemporary are offering the opportunity for artists using textiles in their practice to use vacant stalls around the market to create and showcase work.

Please note there is no invigilation within the market and all works left unattended will be left at your own risk.

Spaces are free to use during the festival and we are able to offer up to £200 seed money to support your idea. This could be used for materials, for your time to engage with visitors to the market during the festival, or in other ways relevant to your project.

Due to the tight turnaround artists will be accepted into the exhibition on a first come first served basis.

If your idea or proposal is accepted you will be expected to produce your own marketing material about your project.  We will support you in your marketing and communications by sharing on the Creative Kirklees and WOVEN website and social media.

Stalls are generally 2m x 3m but vary across the market. The actual space available will vary at the time of programming.

The market is a public space and is uninvigilated, so where relevant, you will need to think about the security of your work. Kirklees council, WOVEN and the University of Huddersfield can accept no liability for loss of or damage to work or equipment used in your project.
