Dot Gallery are looking for artworks that evoke Texture; how you interpret this theme is entirely up to you.

Dot Gallery is a brand new gallery opening in the heart of the historic town of Cockermouth in beautiful Cumbria.

We are looking for artists to submit work that evokes Texture; this could be in a descriptive way or abstract way; it is entirely up to you.

However you'd like to interpret this theme, we would love to see your work. We are looking for work that is 2D in any medium (sorry; no sculpture, audio or video works).

Artists from across the UK are very welcome to submit their work (sorry; this opportunity is only for UK based artists).

Wall mounted work can be of any size or shape, however, please bear in mind the size and cost of return postage should you be sending your work to us.

Work can be framed or unframed. Unframed work should be suitable to be hung using Command Strips.

Artists are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of work for the exhibition.

Successful artists will be required to pay £30 for each work selected.

Artwork will be offered for sale throughout the exhibition and we will charge a commission of 10% of the price.

Please complete a separate form for each submission.

The submission deadline is Friday 14th August 2026.

Work sent by post should reach us by Wednesday 26th August 2026.

Artists are also welcome to deliver work in person to the gallery during gallery opening hours (10:00 to 17:00) between 14th and 26th August 2026.

The exhibition will run from Saturday 29th August to Wednesday 30th September 2026.

Work can be collected from the gallery between Wednesday 30th September to Wednesday 14th October during gallery opening hours.

If you would like your work returning to you by post please be aware that we charge a fee which includes a £4 handling fee and the cost of Royal Mail Tracked 48 hours (no signature required) postage.

Larger parcels can be returned through Parcelforce and will be sent Express 48. Couriers cannot collect your work from the gallery and we do not print postage labels.

There will be an opening event at the venue in Cockermouth on the evening of Friday 28th August from 6-8pm.

The gallery is partially accessible with access to the exhibition via a few steps and has accessible facilities at the premises.

All work must be complete at the time of submission.

Any work which varies from the original piece or size submitted may be rejected.

We will not accept a canvas print as a substitute for an original artwork.

If you wish to submit any form of print, it will be your responsibility to produce this print and prepare it for the exhibition before delivering it to us.

Please contact us should you have any further questions.
