UNDERGROUND//PASSAGE ARTISTS CALL OUT Underground: subterrestrial, experimental, radical, ecological. Passage: movement, transition, clause, extract, ecological

We are particularly keen to showcase tactile work (no films please).

The more-than-human, fungal, vegetal and geological as co-collaborators that highlight the sensorial and temporal dimensions of our ecological relations will be particularly welcome.

Textiles, ceramics, 3D/sculptural works, photography, drawing, painting and other media responding to these themes are welcome.

Does your work respond or relate to these themes? If so, we would like to hear from you.

A
Sometimes Project are curating an exhibition as part of Exeter Art Week 9th-15th June 2025 in the old entrance to the Underground Passages, Roman Gate (near Waterstones).

You must be able to drop off your work on June 7th, and collect it on June 16th.

Insurance is the responsibility of the artists (e.g. from CuratorSpace).

There is a £5 fee per submission, which we use to cover the cost of having the exhibition included in Exeter Art Week, including their comprehensive marketing campaign and 3500 programmes distributed throughout the city.

We will generate our own promotional campaign on social media, spotlighting each selected artist, as well as the exhibition as a whole, to raise the profiles of all involved.

We will give guided tours of the exhibition each day,  and also raise the profile of the selected artists in this way.

The fee also goes some way to covering incidental costs, such as printing gallery guides and labels, and covering time and travel for the organisers and invigilators, all volunteers.

The exhibition includes 2/3 internationally acclaimed artists, and this will provide a platform for selected artists to develop their creative practice.

Deadline for submissions May 25th.

Selected artists will be confirmed shortly after this date.

The venue is below ground,  accessible by a short winding staircase.

There is no wheelchair access, and no toilets, though facilities are nearby. There is no parking outside, but plenty nearby.

We are A Sometimes Project - an emerging, experimental arts initiative that aims to create opportunities for artists and audiences, at different locations, some of the time.

We launched in October 2024 with the exhibition Moving Waters, which attracted 95+ international aplicants.

Our social media profile is growing every day, and we have over 600 followers across 2 platforms. We are based in South Devon.
