Video Games Open Call
Deadline: 21/02/2021 | Published: 15/12/2020 | Venue: Fronteer Gallery | City: Sheffield | Region: South Yorkshire | Country: United Kingdom | Fronteer Art
Calling all artists and video games lovers. Fronteer Gallery in Sheffield are hosting an exhibition of artwork inspired by video games.
Fronteer are looking for submissions of artwork inspired by video games. Seven years ago our first ever open call was on the theme of video games, and we have always looked to hold another open call on this theme. We are looking for a diverse exhibition and can’t wait to see what you might submit. Unfortunately we are unable to accept audio or video work, but work in all other medium is welcome.
Artists are invited to submit 1 piece of work with a short description of no more than 50 words. This text WILL be displayed on the wall alongside the work. Wall mounted work should be no bigger than 50x50cm, although it can be smaller.
The exhibition will run for 2 weeks from 24th March – 3rd April. The gallery is open Wednesday - Saturday each week.
Artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit ONE piece of work each. It is free to apply with only successful artists paying a fee of £25.
The submission deadline is at midnight on 21st February. Successful artists will be contacted by 28th February.
Successful artists must deliver work in person or using a courier to the gallery on Monday 22nd March between 10am and 3pm. Outside of this date and times we cannot guarantee that someone will be available to accept delivery. If you have any issues with this date please contact us before applying. The only other method of delivery that we can currently accept is sending work with the Royal Mail. Work sent by Royal Mail must arrive by Friday 19th March at the latest. To find out more about why we can only accept delivery with Royal Mail please get in touch.
Successful artists should pay their £25 fee by 12th March.
Due to current Coronavirus restrictions there are currently no plans for a private view evening for this exhibition. If restrictions are changed prior to the exhibition opening we will review this.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
How to Submit
Artists are invited to submit one piece of work (no bigger than 50 cm across any one side for wall mounted work. This includes any frames or mounts). All work should be ready to hang and display and should have suitable hanging attachments in place where appropriate. You may submit up to 3 images of your piece of work. If your work requires any unusual hanging or display method please get in touch and let us know.
Work can be offered for sale during the exhibition, and there is a charge of 1% to cover banking costs incurred by the gallery from sales.
Work should be collected from the gallery on Sunday 4th April. If you have any issues with this date please contact us before submitting and we can look at possible alternatives. If you would like your work returning to you by post please be aware that we charge a small handling fee on top of the price of postage.
All work must be complete at the time of submission. Any work which varies from the original piece submitted may be rejected. If you wish to submit a print, it will be your responsibility to print it off and prepare it for exhibition before delivering it to us. All prices, artist information or wall text provided as part of the submission will be used as it is written in the submission form.
Thank you and good luck!
Michael and Sharon (The Fronteer Team)
