Submissions

Selection and Deadlines

Works will be selected by the Artizan Gallery Team, Becky Nuttall and Robert Garnham. Selected works will be exhibited at Artizan Gallery and the selected poets chosen for display at the gallery will have the opportunity to perform their work at the artist preview.

All shortlisted entries, regardless of final selection, will be displayed digitally in the exhibition space and online as part of the exhibition archive. A selection of poems will also be displayed at Torquay Library.

The deadline for submissions is September 16thand successful applicants will be notified by September 23rd.


Sales, Commissions and Fees

All works exhibited for sale are subject to a 30% commission fee. A small anthology of written works will be produced and available to purchase for a small contribution. Submission fees are below and must be paid before the final deadline of September 16th for your submission to be considered.

Artist 2D/3D Work (for sale): £10.00 for the first work, £5.00 for additional works up to a maximum of 5 works.

Artist 2D/3D Work (not for sale): £10.00 for the first work, £5.00 for additional works up to a maximum of 5 works. If your work is selected there is an additional £5.00 fee per work if they are to be displayed NFS.

Poet: £3.00 per work, up to 2 works.


Additional Requirements

A complete submission consists of a fully completed booking form and the appropriate fee, as well as a signed copy of the terms and conditions.


Artwork Submissions

2D works must be no greater than 60x60cm

3D works may be floor standing up to 100cm high or surface display up to 60cm high with a maximum footprint of 60x60cm


Poetry Submissions

All poetry submissions must be provided in the following format:

  • Typed in an editable word document
  • All submissions should be submitted in one word document but should be on separate pages
  • Font: Either Calibri (body) or Times New Roman, size 11
  • Titles: Bold and underlined
  • Line spacing: 0pt within stanzas, 8pt between stanzas
  • Margins: No less than 2.5cm
  • Individual works must be no longer than 40 lines

We regret that we cannot accept paper submissions to this call.


Call Details

Dates: The exhibition will run from October 5th – October 27th with a paid preview on October 4th 18:30-20:30 and a further Artist Preview on October 5th 18:00-20:00. Exhibition set-up will take place during October 1st and the final deadline to receive work is 10am on this date; works not received by this time will not be displayed and fees cannot be refunded.

Exhibition takedown will be after 5PM October 27th and all works must be collected by October 31st 5pm at the latest unless alternative arrangements are made; please note we will officially be closed between these two dates so you must pre-arrange your collection time with the gallery. The final deadline for applications is September 16th. Applications will be confirmed between the dates of September 16th and September 23rd.

When do I need to collect my work?
After 5pm October 17th - October 31st 5pm. Work not collected by this deadline will be subject to a £5 a day storage fee unless otherwise agreed. Work cannot be removed prior to these dates.
How much does it cost?
Submissions start from £3 per work for written works and from £10 per work for artworks.

This is a commercial exhibition.

There will be a paid cocktails preview on October 4th 18:30-20:30 and a further Artist Preview on October 5th 18:00-20:00
What are the exhibition opening hours?
Our standard opening hours are Monday-Friday 12:00-18:00 and Saturday 09:00-17:00. Hours are subject to infrequent change.
