Workshop and Residential Tutors
Deadline: 31/07/2026City: Scarborough | Christopher Shaw
Paid opportunity
We are currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic workshop tutors to deliver inspiring art workshops and residentials at our venues in Scarborough and at the beautiful Cober Hill in North Yorkshire. We are actively building our 2027 schedule and beyond, and we’re particularly interested in fresh, high-quality workshops and new creative experiences that will excite our loyal community of adult learners.
Teaching Opportunities at Our Scarborough Studio & Cober Hill Mansion House
We run a friendly, well-established programme of art workshops, courses, and residential breaks in two excellent locations: our dedicated studio in Scarborough and the historic Cober Hill country house near Scarborough.
We are looking for new tutors to bring exciting workshops and residentials to our customers in 2027 and beyond.
We welcome both traditional fine art subjects as well as fresh, different, or heritage craft workshops that will add variety and energy to our programme.
What we offer:
Traditional subjects we already run successfully: acrylic painting, oil painting, watercolour, portraiture, landscape, drawing, pastels, and mixed media.
We are especially keen to hear from tutors offering new and exciting workshop including heritage crafts and less common creative disciplines that would appeal to our audience.
Workshop & Residential Format:
Day / Weekend Workshops: Usually run on Saturdays and/or Sundays as part of a weekend break. Maximum 10–15 participants.
Residentials:
Typically Monday to Friday. Teaching takes place Tuesday to Thursday, with an informal event on Friday morning before guests depart. Check-in at Cober Hill is from 3pm, but tutors have access earlier in the day for setup.
Tutor Package:
- Competitive day rate paid for all teaching days on residentials and workshop days (agreed in advance).
- Full board accommodation provided at Cober Hill when your workshop is part of a residential or weekend break.
- We cover the cost of materials for all workshops. Where possible, we prefer to source and supply materials ourselves through our on-site art materials shop (we can secure excellent rates and ensure quality and consistency).
- A supportive and friendly team to help with promotion, bookings, venue setup, and participant management.
- We pride ourselves on creating a warm, welcoming, and professional environment for both tutors and participants. Our students are enthusiastic adult learners who return year after year, so high-quality teaching and a positive experience are essential.
If you are a practising artist or craftsperson with teaching experience and would like to bring something new and inspiring to our programme, we would love to hear from you.
