Anonymous Anomaly is a group exhibition exploring the concept of rooms as redefinable spaces. Perpetual movement informs the state of places, boundaries become porous, and their contents ever changing, requiring constant redefinition, in our instance shifting into the form of a gallery.

In a city where spaces are constantly being framed in terms of rent, regulations, and private property, this exhibition endeavours to shift the perception of space as a tangible commodity to a communal agreement between the area and those attending it.

We welcome works that choose to challenge our relationships with private spaces and seek to transpose meaning onto a very non-neutral space.

We are seeking works of all mediums, specifically sound, and performance.

We have two areas open to proposals: the elevated bedframe and street view window, which we encourage for considered and site specific installations.

The exhibition will feature 5 artists over a three day period from September 18th,19th and 20th taking place in a repurposed bedroom in the heart of Haringey's Warehouse district.

We are expecting a moderate visitor count (Approximately 80+ people) throughout the exhibition period.

The audience will be composed mainly of young artists and the Despite Collective network mailing list, and related contacts.

Opening night will include free beverages and a chance to liaise with fellow artists and the wider network of Despite Collective.

All participants will be included in a press release that will be circulated online and featured on Instagram posts, marketing and recording the event.

Important:

As part of this exhibition we are looking for two site specific installations.

A map of the space is provided in the gallery section of this application.

Please detail below how and if you would like to use either of the spaces available.

Space 1:

Street View Window. Please propose any new or old works that may benefit from this specific space. Any works requiring light or direct access to windows would benefit in this location. Works will have to be hanging and be viewable from both inside and outside the gallery.

Space 2:

Elevated Bed Frame. Please propose any new or old works that may benefit from this specific space. Within the space is an elevated built in bed frame to the wall, acting as a semi-mezzanine bed.

This space will be covered by white curtains during the exhibition. Works that are sound base could be hidden from view to encase the environment in an ambient sound.

Video based works would be able to use wall space and the hanging semi-sheer fabrics to project onto and be visible to visitors.

Artworks can be made available for sale with a 10% commission fee on any final transactions to cover exhibition costs. Having your art on sale is not mandatory.
