The Superposition is a self-organising network of artists, scientists, and makers in Leeds and one of the most productive and connected groups in the North of England. We are looking for exciting public workshops for a range of ages that allow members of the public to engage in the creativity of Art/ Science/ Making.

ASMbly (A(rt)S(cience)M(aker)bly) Lab  is our annual pop-up studio/laboratory/workshop in Leeds city centre, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists, scientists and makers. ASMbly 2017 runs from Wednesday 26th July to Sunday 6th August.

The Lab is open to the public and this provides a range of crucial engagement opportunities with audiences while enabling collaborations to develop with other Lab participants. Previous ASMblys have led to the touring of SciArtworks across Europe to festivals such as Ars Electronica or to works becoming permanent installations at research facilities such as DESY Synchrotron in Hamburg.

To increase our critical audience engagement, this year we are designing an exciting programme of talks, critiques, exhibitions, workshops and hands on visitor activities to complement our Lab activities. We have some great workshops booked led by inspirational and experienced arts/ science/ technology organisations and individuals and are looking to add to these. To this end are looking for a minimum of 10 workshops (for a variety of age ranges, but with some being aimed at children, young people and families) to run over the course of ASMbly that straddle the boundaries of Art/ Science/ Making/ Technology. The definition of this can be quite loose. In the past we have had BioHacking, coding, weaving, bodging confectionery and antique photography as events/ workshops at ASMbly.

ASMbly 2017 is proudly supported by Arts Council England Grants for the Arts and Leeds BID
