You are invited to submit your artwork to this long-running selected exhibition which showcases the best work by local professional and amateur artists.

The exhibition will take place in the recently renovated Corn Exchange in Blandford Forum from Saturday 15th August to Friday 21st August.

You are invited to submit artwork to this annual selected exhibition which showcases the best of work by professional and amateur artists in the local area (Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire).

The Corn Exchange is in the centre of the historic Georgian town. So, there are always lots of visitors both local and many holidaymakers.

The Open Exhibition is widely advertised in local magazines and on social media.

Blandford Art Society was started in 1972. There are over 50 members in the society, including beginners and experienced artists.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in art.

The Society offers weekly meeting places for artists on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday evenings as well as monthly workshops with visiting tutors and speakers.

Criteria for Exhibition

Work must be original in concept and design. Sculptures and/or framed or mounted textile work will be accepted. Laser and computer printed or generated images are not accepted.

If in doubt, please contact the curator.  Artwork can be on any subject but there will be a prize for the best abstract painting.

A small selection panel will view all the submitted images and choose high quality artwork suitable for the exhibition. All BAS members are guaranteed at least 1 framed or mounted piece in the selection.

Canvases, framed work, and sculptures

Up to 4 pieces may be submitted; all work must be priced at £50 or above (please price in multiples of £5);

COSTS

BAS Members pay £6 per framed piece and £3 for each portfolio piece.

Non-members pay £10 per framed piece and £5 for each portfolio piece.

There is a 25% commission charge on all sales at the exhibition.

SUBMISSIONS

For exhibition artwork:

After submitting your first artwork, you will be directed to make a payment. Select the amount for the number of pieces you would like to submit. If this is more than one, you will then be able to make further submissions by completing additional forms up to the number of artworks you have paid for.

For portfolio items:

Portfolio items are not subject to selection but must be registered. After submitting your first portfolio item, you will be directed to make a payment. Select the amount for the number of items you wish to register. You may then complete further submissions up to the number you have paid for.

The CuratorSpace website will be open for entries from 1st June 2026 and close on 12th July 2026.

Preview

This will take place on Saturday 15th August 5 - 7 pm where there will be the opportunity to view the exhibition. The society will be serving drinks.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
This is an Open Selected Art Exhibition. Professional and amateur artists resident in the local area (Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire) are eligible to submit work.
When is the deadline?
The submission deadline is 12th July 2026
How many works can I submit?
Artists may submit up to 4 pieces of artwork: canvases; framed work; and sculptures.
You will be asked to upload an image of each artwork submitted.
Also, 6 portfolio items may be submitted and are not subject to selection. Images are not required for the portfolio items.
When is the delivery date?
Hand-in will be at the Corn Exchange, Blandford Forum on Thursday 11 August 2026, between 6 pm and 8 pm. It is anticipated that all selected work will be hung in the exhibition. However, if there is inadequate space, a few pieces may be held back and used to replace sold work.
When do I need to collect my work?
Collection will be at the Corn Exchange, Blandford Forum on Friday 21st August between 5 pm and 7 pm. There is no storage available.
How much does it cost?
