Day & Night exhibition - Modulart Open Call
Deadline: 02/08/2026City: Southport | Region: Merseyside | Country: United Kingdom | Modulart Gallery
Modulart Gallery are looking for artworks to be part of a group exhibition, located within the new Warehouse Arts centre in Southport. This exhibitions theme is ‘Day and Night’. There is no wrong way to interpret this theme, with artists having the flexibility and freedom to create and submit work in whichever way this theme resonates with them.
This open call is open for all artists across the UK.
Artists' work can be in any medium, including video works.
Modulart aims to celebrate all forms of visual creative arts, with a particular focus on hosting what we would consider as underrepresented art forms within our gallery space, such as digital illustration, textile arts, printmaking, zines and mixed media works.
We believe creativity extends further than the traditional, contemporary fine art gallery spaces, and aim to provide an inclusive platform, particularly to those whose works may not be seen in traditional gallery settings.
The gallery does reside on the first floor of the Warehouse Arts Centre. Whilst we do have lift access to all floors, there is a singular step to access the gallery. We do have a portable ramp which can be set up for this gallery step if required.
This exhibition will run from Friday 21st August - Friday 2nd October.
There will be a private view on the opening night of 21st August from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
Artists are able to submit a maximum of 2 pieces of work to the exhibition.
A piece of work may be one physical piece, or a series that works cohesively as one piece, with one title.
If you wish to submit two works, then please complete two separate submission forms for this. You must also supply us with the title of the piece and a short description of the piece no more than 100 words, which will be displayed alongside your work.
You will also need to tell us if the work is for sale or not, as well as the price for the piece if you are selling your work.
It is free to both apply and exhibit your works at Modulart, with artists also keeping 100% of the sale price of their works.
The submission deadline for this exhibition is Sunday 2nd August 2026. Successful artists will be contacted W/C 3rd August.
Successful artists will need to arrange to get their works to us at their own expense, either via mail or in person.
If sending through the mail, we recommend sending your works tracked and insured up to their value to prevent damage and loss.
Modulart will offer a drop off window week commencing 10th August, for anyone who would prefer to hand deliver their works.
All works submitted need to be ready to hang/display. Wall hung works need to already have suitable hardware attachments installed for hanging.
Wall hung works are largely preferred to have D-rings, mirror plates, or picture hanging wire already securely attached to the work.
Large, lightweight canvases may not require hanging attachments if they can be securely hung with nails.
3D works or non hanging works will need to arrive ready to display.
Please be clear with how your work should be presented if it is ambiguous or requires a certain type of presentation/hanging order.
Digital works must be printed, framed and ready for display before reaching us, as we will not be responsible for the printing or framing of digital works.
Please note that sawtooth hanging attachments are not accepted.
Whilst we can display larger works, works under 89 cm height by 64 cm width are more likely to be accepted due to gallery capacity.
Please bare this in mind when submitting your works.
As part of your submission, we will need photographs of both the work, and the hanging/display fixtures.
Once the exhibition is over, works must be collected week commencing 5th October.
If you mailed your work into us, we can return your work via mail using the same packaging you used to send your works to us.
The cost of getting artwork shipped back will be the responsibility of the artist, and we will contact you with the cost of tracked 48 hour postage.
Works will be mailed back to you between the 9th and 10th of October if this is how you chose to have your work returned to you.
Please note we have limited storage for works uncollected, and urge you to find the time to either collect your works during the designated week, or arrange to pay the postage cost to have this returned to you via mail.
Artists can choose to offer their works for sale during the exhibition.
The price will be displayed next to the exhibiting piece, or a sign with ‘NFS’ next to works not available for sale. If your work sells, it will need to remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
Sale money will be sent to the artist in full upon collection of the sold artwork by the buyer week commencing 5th October.
We recommend that artists have their own insurance policy for their exhibiting works, as Modulart Gallery takes no responsibility for works lost or damaged either in transit or during the exhibition.
