York Collective Navigators Art & Performance invites submissions from visual artists based in York for our forthcoming exhibition at the City Screen Picturehouse gallery between 10th March and 6th April 2024.

GUNA is a version of the ancient Greek word for 'woman', and the show forms part of the city's International Women's Week activities.
We will also host a live performance event of music, spoken word and comedy (independently but under the same title) in The Basement on March 23rd at 7.30 pm.

We're seeking bold, adventurous and challenging wall-based work that explores and celebrates the creativity of women*.

Getting some very interesting stuff in now and we want to encourage MORE! The new deadline for submissions is 25th FEBRUARY, 11.59 pm. Our guest curator is York textile artist Katie Lewis.

GUNA is a version of the ancient Greek word for 'woman'.
*NOTE: You do not have to use the 'she' pronoun to apply: we welcome everybody, whatever their background or experience.

Please include up to 4 high-quality images of your work (with a note on medium and measurements) together with a supporting statement about how it addresses the theme. Supporting links optional.

Your piece(s) can be for sale or not, as you wish. Navigators don't make a profit, and there's no fee to pay, but we will request a small commission of 5% on any sale to help cover expenses.
Artists selected will need to install their work on Sunday, March 10th (or Monday, 11th) between 8.30 and 10.30 am and take it down on Saturday, April 6th at the same time.

We also ask you to attend the launch event on Monday 11th March from 6.00 pm, and to contribute a bottle of something for the guests!

Closing date for applications is Sunday 25th February at 11.59 pm.

We will inform you by the end of February which of the images you provide we'd like to show.
