Project context
Lansbury Estate at 75 is an ACE NLPG funded visual arts project marking 75 years of the Lansbury Estate, built as part of the Festival of Britain in 1951. The Lansbury Estate is in Poplar, East London.
The project will focus on a series of eight free community workshops, for adults, on the Lansbury Estate through August 2026, across 2D and 3D practices (drawing, photography, weaving, mixed media, painting, sound and vision).
Workshop participants will use found, natural, structural and archival materials. Workshops will foster experimentation, co-creation and reflection, enabling residents to produce artworks responding to the estate’s architecture, history and lived experience. Community voice is central.
Residents, particularly those often excluded from cultural opportunities, will engage directly with their environment, exploring form, texture and space while reflecting creatively.
Workshops, studio access and discussions will build skills, confidence, ownership and creative expression, ensuring participation is inclusive and empowering.
The project culminates in a multi-site public exhibition of residents’ work during the 2026 London Festival of Architecture and Open House Festival (12/09/2026-20/09/2026).

The Lead Artist and Community Workshop Facilitator will appoint and coordinate an Assistant Facilitator and any agreed additional delivery support.
