Call for entries! 13b is an exciting new project and gallery space looking for postcard sized artworks for their inaugural exhibition ‘Answers on a Postcard’. This is a great opportunity to expand your network and get greater exposure by exhibiting your work in front of an international audience.

About 13b

13b is a new, artist run project space and gallery founded by LJ Winter at her home in the medieval town of Kamnik, Slovenia.

Born out of a desire to create a space for artists to show their work and try out ideas outside of the traditional white cube, the gallery explores questions of what art is, how it is made and who makes it.

By de-centralising the exhibition space and bringing art into the fabric of everyday life, 13b blurs the boundaries between art and reality, encouraging spontaneous interactions and forging connections between artists, audiences and the public sphere, both nationally and internationally.

13b is located in the centre of the historical town of Kamnik, a 20 minute drive from the capital Ljubljana, and a 10 minute walk  from established galleries and museums such as Medobčinski Muzej Kamnik (MMK), Zaprice, Miha Maleš and Galerija Pogled.

The exhibition 'Answers on a Postcard' will also coincide with the international festival 'Kamfest', due to take place in Kamnik in August and which attracts more than 30,000 visitors.

We have excellent connections with the curators and organisers of 'Kamfest' (as well as Slovenian curators and gallerists) and the gallery will also be open to group tours as part of the festival. In the course of a month, we expect a few hundred visitors.

You do not need to be a professional artist to participate, as we believe that art is for everyone and exhibiting your work is a great way of developing your practice and helping you towards the next stages of your learning or career goals.

Please let us know if you would like to have your work(s) available for sale. If so, no commission will be taken by the gallery, and we will put potential buyers in direct contact with you.

Artists who are selected will have their work displayed in a month-long exhibition in our gallery, with their work also appearing online on our social media pages with a link to their websites.

Submission Details

Artists are invited to submit postcards/ 2D artworks on card that measure A6 4.1 x 5.8 " and/or 7 x 5”/A5 size. 

Every contribution must be an original artwork.

Although restricted to being postcard sized, the subject matter and approaches can vary widely, from photography and collage, to drawing/sketches, painting, prints, text/graffiti and even textiles.

Each Artist can submit up to 3 postcards.

To apply, please send a link to your website, images of your work for consideration and a few words about your practice (250 words max). 

Application is free and if your work is accepted, it will cost £18 for your submission to help cover administration, marketing and PV costs. 

Successful applicants should send postcards in an envelope and protected so they remain flat.

All works will be documented and images of the PV, final installation and any press will be forwarded to each artist.

If you wish your postcard(s) to be returned, please include an addressed envelope.

Artists are responsible for postage costs to Slovenia.

We will pay the postage to return the cards to the UK.

Artist selection and notification July 10/7/25

Participation fee for accepted works due no later than July 15/7/25

Accepted works should arrive at the gallery no later than July 25/7/25 (we will email succcessful artists the address)

PV August 1st, 6- 8 pm

Exhibition Dates- August 1/8/25- August 31/8/25
