Following the exhibitions Scentless Depths (2025) and The Body as a Threshold (2025–2026), Suspended marks the third chapter of an ongoing curatorial research exploring states of perception and being — moving from the invisible, to the embodied, and now into the state of suspension.

Suspension considers conditions that are unsettled: bodies that resist full definition, materials that seem to hover between states, images that appear on the verge of forming or dissolving.

Suspension can be physical, psychological, or spatial. Time may feel delayed or stretched. Meaning may remain unresolved. A body may appear lifted, paused, or constrained.

We invite works that explore:

  • states of waiting, hesitation, or transition
  • tension between balance and collapse
  • gravity, levitation, or physical suspension
  • emotional or psychological instability
  • bodies in displacement or in-between conditions
  • environments that hold or suspend movement

Rather than illustrating a concept, we are interested in works that create a felt experience of suspension — where the viewer becomes aware of a state that is neither fully stable nor fully resolved.

Artists are encouraged to propose works that activate space, invite slow perception, or create a sense of suspension within the viewer’s experience.

We welcome submissions in all media, including installation, sculpture, painting, photography, video, and mixed media.

Suspended will take place at Zhen Yi Gallery,  at 17 rue Chapon, 75003 Paris, in the vibrant Marais district, with expected footfall from both local art audiences and international visitors.
