Degrees of Freedom invite artists to respond to the new currents that have shaped their lives over the past few months.

What we call reality has changed in many ways over the past months…

the way we choreograph our social encounters,

how people move across architectural spaces,

the pace of our thoughts in the slowness of time,

the density of wildlife in unoccupied human spaces,

the flux of our mood from day to day,

how we balance danger versus desire in matters of the body.

Degrees of Freedom invite artists to respond to the new currents that have shaped their lives over the past few months.  The responses can be in any medium.  Live works are particularly welcome.

How will it work

Artists are asked to submit either proposals for works or actual works.

Please provide a brief description of the work including size, space requirements, installation requirements, duration etc

Please provide a short paragraph on how the work fits into the theme of the exhibition.

Participating artists will be asked to contribute to the gallery rota for welcoming visitors during opening hours.

In order to meet our obligation to provide a safe environment for artists and visitors there will not be a single open private view event. Instead, 2-3 participating artists will be able to get together to hold a private view (invitation only) as long as there are no more than 30 people in the gallery at any one time. Artists and visitors will be expected to wear facemasks, use hand gel and maintain social distance where possible.

There is no fee for submission or exhibition.
