We invite you to share your photography that explore the interplay between reality and imagination, the visible and the hidden.

Seen and Unseen

We love photography for its ability to document reality and freeze a moment in time.

But just as much, we love it for its power to go beyond reality — to stir emotions, evoke meanings, and open new ways of seeing.

Through the unique language of visual poetry, photography transforms from a tool of documentation into a medium of expression.

For this open call, we invite photographers to explore both the visible and the hidden, the noticed and the overlooked.

About Cambridge Photography Gallery:

Cambridge Photography Gallery is a new, independent online platform for contemporary photography.

Founded by photographers, we aim to create a space for meaningful photographic work — projects that make you think and feel.

Our goal is to create a dialogue between artists and viewers about what contemporary photography means today.

Right now, Cambridge Photography Gallery exists online.

But we’re growing fast. Soon, we hope to organize offline exhibitions in Cambridge and one day, to create a dedicated physical space for photography in the city.

Exhibition benefits:

  • Selected works will be presented in a curated online exhibition hosted on the Cambridge Photography Gallery website.
  • Each participating artist will receive a dedicated post on our Instagram page, which currently has 260 engaged photography enthusiasts and continues to grow quickly.
  • The exhibition will be promoted through a paid Instagram advertising campaign targeted at photography lovers worldwide. We expect this promotion to reach between 5,000 and 20,000 people, resulting in hundreds of visitors to the exhibition.
  • Every selected artist will receive a digital certificate of participation confirming their inclusion in the exhibition, suitable for their portfolio or CV.
  • All participants will receive guaranteed consideration for future physical exhibitions organized by Cambridge Photography Gallery.

Eligibility:

  • Open to all photographers worldwide
  • All photographic techniques are allowed

Artwork sales and commission:

The exhibition is non-commercial. Artworks will not be sold through our platform.

Our goal is to provide visibility and context for the artists rather than to facilitate direct sales.

Copyright:

Copyright of all submitted works will remain with the photographers at all times.

By submitting, artists grant us permission to exhibit and promote their work in the context of this exhibition and its related promotional materials.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Photographers of all levels and from all countries.
When is the deadline?
10 November 2025.
How much does it cost?
Submission is free.
If your work is selected, a participation fee of £15 will apply.
How many works can I submit?
You can submit as many images as you want to. Our curators will decide which mages fit the theme of the exhibition.
Can I choose a cover image for my project?
No cover image is needed — all photographs will be displayed as part of a unified online exhibition layout.
What do you mean by “project description”?
A project description is a short text describing your project — its concept, context, or what inspired it.
We believe a description helps viewers better understand your work.
We recommend filling this in if you’re submitting a coherent photographic project that includes multiple images.
If you’re submitting single images, or if each image represents a different project, you can use the description field in the image submission form instead.
Why is there a participation fee?
The participation fee helps us cover the administrative costs of running the exhibition.
We’re a small independent initiative — our goal is not profit, but sustainability.
Is the fee the same for projects and single images?
Yes — the £15 participation fee is fixed per selected participant, not per image.
We believe this approach is fairer and avoids the idea of “paying for visibility.”
