SMALL SCALE ART - FOR GROUP SHOW - GoMG & GUESTS
Deadline: 03/11/2023Venue: APT Gallery | City: London (and Online) | Region: London | Country: United Kingdom | Eldi Dundee
A group show of 20+ Guild of Micro Galleries members + guest Micro Gallerists: together in one massive show in London!
We're compiling an ARTIST POOL - of artists who work in miniature and/or maquettes, who would like to propose a show (in principle) for one of our many Guild of Micro Gallery members to consider showing in their spaces for our 'SMALL PACKAGES' group show, a 2-week exhibition taking place at APT Gallery, London, 11th - 21st April, 2024 (Thursdays through Sundays, 12 - 5 pm)
This show is a historical first!
We're presenting a large collection of Guild of Micro Galleries members, together for the first time ever, in person (with VR) simultaneously, under one roof, in London!
That means 25+ solo or group shows, within one mega/meta exhibition. That's 25+ separate SOLO shows for artists working in small scale, OR, if all the micro gallerists were to put on group shows in their mini spaces, this would provide an almost infinite amount of exhibiting opportunities for artists to participate in this ground breaking event!
Some of the Micro Galleries will have never been viewed in public before, and it will certainly be the first time ALL these Mirco Galleries will physically have been shown together IRL. (They're together online on the Guild of Micro Galleries website and on the SMALL PACKAGES show's dedicated website but that's nothing like the experience of seeing them in person!)
We will be curating a programme of public talks and workshops, including a live streamed panel discussion from the gallery, and an off-site forum to (hopefully) coincide with WTAGD (World Tiny Art Gallery Day, in Adelaide, Australia on 15th April (a Monday, therefore APT is closed, hence the need to gather off-site).`

Have a peek at the above Micro Galleries on Instagram, follow them, check out their websites via the 'links in bios', and if you have a preference for which you'd like to propose a show for, whether for the SMALL PACKAGES (working title) group exhbition, or other shows the individual Mirco Galleries may hold before and beyond it, then get in touch with us here to register your interest and we'll add you to the central ARTIST POOL for the Micro Gallery curators to view in one place.
UPDATE: The Artists Pool is now FREE for artists to apply to join!
There is NO application fee or showing fee for Artists wanting to participate in the SMALL PACKAGES SHOW.
Please message us for ways to donate towards the admin for this project or to tip the organisers. Thank you!
Please note in advance that the Lead Curator would be taking a commission on work that sells, and probably, so would the individual Micro Gallerists. The commission structure would likely look like: no less than 50% to the artist, and the other 50% (negotiable) would be split between the micro gallerist and the Curator for the main exhbition. You'll need to price your work accordingly to ensure you take home what you want to take home if a piece sells.
It must be said that not all works will be for sale, especially works coming to the UK solely for this show that will be sent right back to their countries of origin after the show.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: everyone (artists, micro gallerists and organisers alike) is responsible for having their own insurance for their own art. (If you're in the UK, a-n or axisweb are a good place to start for affordable artist insurance, and CuratorSpace offers this as well!)
Contact the curatorCheck their websites/instagram accounts for details, because all the Micro Galleries differ!
(The submission form itself will only allow up to 10 images, so be inventive and strategic if you want to submit more than 10 works.)
Generally it would be helpful to have the work at least 2 weeks to a month or more before Easter 2024.
For works from outside the UK (EU or further afield), more time could be required for customs clearances - you might need to send them 2 months in advance minimum to be safe to ensure they arrive in time for the show!
There is no option to store your works beyond the show. The APT Gallery has no storage space, nor do we organisers.
So make your arrangements with your Mirco Gallerist/Curator individually.
Or pick up in person either on the evening of day we close the show, or on the morning/early afternoon of the day after - before we have to hand back the keys. (exact details TBC)
FEES:
£5.00 (£3.00 concs) to SUBMIT a PROPOSAL for a show.
£25 (£15.00 concs) (minimum) if SELECTED.
(Message for transfer options/details)
IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO PAY MORE, PLEASE DO.
Any additional money you can afford to put into the project can then be used to help another artist who would otherwise be barred from applying to exhibit their work.
GALLERY COMMISSION:
We will put the collector in touch with the micro gallerist/curator and/or the artist directly.
We expect that if the artist makes any sales as a result of their work being seen in this show in person or online or by publication, or even by word of mouth about their micro show within this meta/macro show, that they will pay a 40% commission to the organisers of the exhibition to be split between the micro gallerist of the micro exhibition and the organisers of the larger real-life sized exhibition.
Accepting to do a micro show within the APT/GoMG show with us implies agreement by the artist to honour these terms.
We'll have to trust one another to do the 'right thing'.
* (Unless we manage to attract funding to provide Micro Gallerists AND artists with a stipend - we will attempt to secure this - but cannot guarantee it!)
There may also be additional events as part of the programming.
We will add these as and when we know for sure when they will take place.
(Will update this when we have a full, concrete schedule)
Email info@aptstudios.org for specific info.
There is no advertising budget to speak of, nor do we have a marketing team (as yet) but we will be applying for funding or in-kind sponsorship/partnership specifically for marketing help...
You can expect it to be shared on APT's mailing list and socials, and on GoMG associated websites, Facebook and Instagram accounts,. All the Guild members and Guest participants and their artists will promote the show as a matter of course - you'll be encouraged to share posts among your own networks, platforms, etc.
We will list in all the free arts listings we know about - please suggest any that you like. If we get funding we may be able to buy some space in paid listings.
It would also be great for you to just come and be part of the festivities and see the other amazing Micro Galleries that will be on show.
There is no overarching theme per se for the SMALL PACKAGES group show - however, no work that is discriminatory in any way against any group of disadvantaged people will be accepted.
What gets accepted beyond that criteria is based on personal tastes of the Curator(s).
NOTE: As soon as you agree to show with a Micro Gallerist in the SMALL PACKAGES in person group show, agreement to our terms in implied, and you'll be asked to pay a (voluntary) minimum fee of £25 (£10 - £15 concs) to cover some of the admin and labour involved - if you can afford to pay more, it would be greatly appreciated by us, and by the artist who will have their fees lowered or waived if they find even the concessionary fee inaccessible.
Some of us are a bit partial to one type of work over another, but as a Guild we're (in principle) wide open to all mediums. Try us!
