The Glasgow Gallery of Photography is running a month long exhibition in January called Monochrome. Black and white photography can be so impactful to the viewer, that even in world full of colour, limiting your image to just the shades of one can tell the viewer more than if it had all the colours.

With this exhibition we want to showcase how impactful monochrome images really can be. But your monochromatic images don't have to just be black and white, sepia, green, blue, any colour would be acceptable as long its monochrome. So whether you have a gorgeous black and white image or a thought provoking cyanotype, we want to see them.

Monochrome is an open call for photographers to submit up to 8 images of any genre of photography, that meet the theme of monochrome.

Photographers who are selected will have their work displayed for a month long exhibition.
Work will appear online in our online gallery on our website.

We want you to send your best images. We want work from both emerging and established photographers. You do not need to be a professional photographer to participate as we believe that photography is for everyone.

Both Scottish and International photographers are welcome.

All participants that are selected to take part in the exhibition will be put forward for a chance to be named Photographer of the Month.

How to participate:

Submission for this exhibition is FREE.  If your work is selected there is a participation fee of £48.00. This covers the cost of everything.
We will print, install and un-install the work in the gallery space.

Local photographers are free to collect their work afterwards as we will hold it for 1 month.

Choose up to 8 images 72ppi. Work will be displayed various sizes.  (Please note that if selected you will be asked to sent a 300ppi and 3000 Pixels minimum on the shortest side version of your image to be displayed )

Name your image file with your name e.g  JohnSmith1 (If you do not name your images correctly they could be lost or misplaced and delay the exhibition. Please only use your name, do not include image titles or any other information)

Make sure your image is a JPEG, we can only except jpegs as this is what the printing company that we use requires.

Please tell us your name and nationality and/or where you reside (these will be displayed along with your selected images.

Once the deadline has passed photographers who have been selected will contacted and ask to pay the participation fee. The gallery then does the rest.
