Interested in having your art published, printed, and posted directly to your door? Exhibit alongside a diverse network of established and emerging artists in a collection underpinned by the theme of Focus. All art in any medium related to this theme is welcome to feature in the sixth installation of this series!

Wiro Mag is a paperbound gallery space designed to capture art practice in motion, seeking to connect emerging and established artists with broader audiences, gain reputable and tangible exposure, and drive intimate conversations with creative individuals or collectives.

Wiro Mag: Focus is an exploration of how aspects of focus can be implemented into art practice.

This could be through the use of certain mediums, the act of creating work in a way that allows for concentration, or visualising the concept of focus in the physical properties of the final piece.

A blissful view of a sprawling landscape is framed by branches, shrubs, and bushes portrays rolling hills, grasslands, and riverbanks.

The two levels of depth in the image showcase focus, while reminding the viewer that due to the ever-changing and evolving state of nature, you can never truly capture the same image twice.

Varying degrees of moisture in thick, handmade papyrus influence the softness of each form, shape, and entity within a watercolour painting.

Wetter areas create blurred edges, and where the paper is dry and more resistant, sharp, crisp edges appear, adding to the complexity of the abstraction. It is through this basic principle that the properties of human vision are simulated in an entirely ethereal composition.

Ancient yet highly sophisticated brickwork surrounds a vacant archway to the unknown.

A complex combination of gouache, oil, and acrylic paint simulates a highly texturised appearance that contrasts strongly with the mysterious interior.

The vantaback crypt within this stone structure is positioned as the focal point of the composition, drawing the eye to its benign and ominous contents.

This work stimulates both intrigue and caution, as the nature of the work allows no further explanation of what lies within, raising only further questions about the context of the subject matter.

These are just some of the ways in which the theme of Focus could be captured in the work you submit. Wiro Mag invites you to challenge these criteria and push the boundaries of how these ideas can be depicted or expressed through art practice.

Featured artists will receive:

  1. A copy of the publication packaged and sent to their address in biodegradable packaging.
  2. A double-page spread with a professionally edited bio and project-specific Q&A, alongside images of the submitted work and further relevant information to guide the reader to learn more about you.
