A call out for six co-workers for workshops for the exhibition - Translating Materials Wants and Needs in the location of Wolverhampton, West Midlands. Translating Materials Wants & Needs presents a series of workshops for six LGBTQI+ co-workers, funded by an Arts Council DYCP award, and part of an off-site fringe programme in conjunction with the British Art Show 9.

Workshop Options: There is recruitment for two different audiences for co-working workshops available with artist, Yazmin Boyle:

Option 1: 

I am looking for three co-workers to participate at home. You will receive:

·       A workshop box with equipment and instructions along with video links and access to video chats with me the artist. 

·       A fully immersive making experience.  

·       Return labels will be provided.  

Option 2:

I am looking for three co-workers to participate in workshops with me in the gallery. You will receive: 

·      A day of making on Saturday 26th February 2022 with me, the artist, from 10 am to 4.00 pm at Asylum Gallery, Wolverhampton. 

·      All equipment will be provided, along with masks, protective clothing. 

·      A fully immersive making experience. 

Workshop and Application Information:

·      You will explore and encounter the properties of plaster, alginate, clay, sand, and its process can foster a greater sense of well-being, a deeper understanding of the body, and a sense of social solidarity. 

·      With your consent, I would like to display photographs of the works produced at home during the month-long exhibition Translating Materials Wants and Needs. (All works will remain anonymous unless you would like to be disclosed) 

·      I am holding a pre-application workshop event on Zoom on 9th February 2022 for you to ask any questions about the application process. Tickets can be obtained via  Eventbrite Link


·      The application deadline is 11th February 2022. 

·      You will hear back from me, the artist (Yazmin Boyle) on the 15th February 2022.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
• You must be 18 or over to partake.
• I am looking for people who are unable to access these spaces or feel like they have a lack of access.
• I am interested in hearing from marginalised and working-class folk.
• I am looking for co-workers who are interested in experiencing new materials and processes but are unable to access these spaces due to time constraints or lack of access.
