Loose Ends
Deadline: 11/01/2026City: London | Region: London | Country: United Kingdom | Elephant Vision Lab
We’re inviting students and recent graduates to share work that resists being finished.
Loose Ends focuses on work that remains unresolved, shaped by both intention and condition.
Unfinished states are not treated as absence or failure, but as the way making often truly happens.
Rather than prioritising resolution, the exhibition is interested in practices formed through negotiation, adjustment, interruption, and revision.
What is shown may be partial, provisional, or fragmentary, reflecting the realities within which ideas are developed.
We welcome works across fine art, sculpture, perforce, moving image. sound, architecture, design, fashion and other relevant mediums, particularly those that move between disciplines or resist clear categorisation.
This may include:
- unfinished or ongoing works
- realised works halted before completion
- material experiments and test pieces
- sketches, drafts, and working drawings
- fragments, samples, and partial constructions
- proposals or ideas that remain unrealised
Visible traces of making, construction lines, edits, annotations, revisions, and corrections — are not secondary, but integral to the work.
All stages of completion are welcome.
You are welcome to upload 2 art works for this submission - each artwork will be treated individually.
Works will have up to 1 metre of space in the gallery, layout will be discussed during your 1-1 curatorial session.
Works will not be sold art this exhibtion.
Selected participants will be offered one-to-one curatorial sessions.
These conversations are a space to think critically about how work in progress can be shown, to share feedback, and to support further development if needed.
The exhibition is approached as an extension of the process, not a final outcome.
This open call offers a platform for emerging artists to share work that’s still forming, where ideas can be tested, questioned, and left open.
All approaches and stages of completion are welcome.
