Call for entries! 13b is an exciting new project and gallery space looking for artworks up to 10 x 10 cm in size for their next exhibition ‘Miniatures’. This is a great opportunity to expand your network and get greater exposure by exhibiting your work in front of an international audience.

Miniatures:

Miniature art is defined as works created on a diminutive scale that span different genres and media.

Ancient Persian miniatures and pocket-sized portraits in Victorian lockets show that scaled-down artwork has long been a way to carry beauty in a deeply personal form.

Tiny art brings a refreshing shift from grand spectacle to precision, detail, and stillness.

The scale draws viewers in close, inviting thoughtful observation, encouraging audiences to slow down and savour the intricacies of every brushstroke or sculpted fold.

Miniature art continues to inspire, proving that beauty on a small scale can leave a big impression.

Submission Details:

Submissions are FREE

Artists are invited to submit artworks that are up to 10 x 10cm. These can be any material and can be 2D or 3D. Pieces will be installed on the wall, table and shelves.

*Please note, if you take part in this exhibition, we will not be returning the works.

Instead, selected artists work will form part of the gallery’s permanent collection.

Our plan is to build a permanent collection of works that we include in future exhibitions and shows.

For example, each year we will have a miniatures exhibition and your work would be included as part of an even larger scale show.

Although restricted to being 10 x 10cm sized, the subject matter and approaches can vary widely, from photography and collage, to drawing/sketches, painting, prints, text/graffiti, textiles, sculpture/models and found objects/fragments.

Each Artist can submit up to 3 artworks.

To apply, please send a link to your website, images of your work for consideration and a few words about your practice (250 words max).

Application is free and if your work is accepted, it will cost £20 (GBP) via Paypal for your submission to help cover administration, marketing and PV costs.

All works will be documented and images of the PV, final installation and any press will be forwarded to each artist.

You do not need to be a professional artist to participate, as we believe that art is for everyone and exhibiting your work is a great way of developing your practice and helping you towards the next stages of your learning or career goals.

We take zero commission and will put any potential buyers directly in contact with you, so you get 100% of the sale.

Artists who are selected will have their work displayed in 8 week-long exhibition in our gallery, with their work also appearing online on our social media pages (fb and instagram) with a link to their websites.

Works will enter the gallery's permanent collection, so will not be returned.

About 13b

Born out of a desire to create a space for artists to show their work and try out ideas outside of the traditional white cube, the gallery explores questions of what art is, how it is made and who makes it.

By decentralising the exhibition space and bringing art into the fabric of everyday life, 13b blurs the boundaries between art and reality, encouraging spontaneous interactions and forging connections between artists, audiences and the public sphere.

13b is located in the centre of the historical town of Kamnik, a 20 minute drive from the capital Ljubljana, and a 10 minute walk  from established galleries and museums such as Medobčinski Muzej Kamnik (MMK), Zaprice, Miha Maleš and Galerija Pogled. We also have excellent connections with these gallerists and curators who always visit our exhibitions.

Focus:

  • Collaboration
  • Everyday creativity
  • DIY ethos in art
  • Art in unusual spaces
  • Art as intervention
  • Building alternatives to capitalism and the institutional art world

The exhibition 'Miniatures' will also coincide with the festival ‘Fairytale Kamnik', which takes place in Kamnik in December and attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.
