Unearthing Interconnections between Nature and Women

Poets and writers are invited to submit work for the Poetry Open Call accompanying the 3rd edition of the ECOFeminism Festival, which explores the theme ROOTS.

What does it mean to be rooted? Where do we come from, what connects us, and what sustains us?

We invite poets and writers to submit an original poem inspired by ROOTS and its many interpretations.

From ancestry, heritage and cultural identity to belonging, migration, memory and the land we call home, we want to hear your perspectives on the visible and invisible connections that shape our lives.

Explore the relationship between women and nature, matrilineal knowledge, Indigenous wisdom, ecological interdependence, the legacy of colonialism, or the forces that connect people, communities and the natural world.

You may approach the theme through an ecological perspective, a feminist lens, or the intersection of both.

We welcome personal reflections, challenging perspectives, powerful narratives and unexpected interpretations.

Above all, we want to hear voices that move us, question assumptions and invite us to look more deeply at our connections with one another and the world around us.

Selected poets will be invited to perform their work at the ECOFeminism Festival Open Mic event, bringing together poetry, creativity and conversation in a shared celebration of words and ideas.

The selected winning poet will receive a £100 cash award from ART from HEART in recognition of their work.

The Open Mic event will be facilitated by an experienced poet, bringing professional expertise to the performances.
