Hey! I'm Meg. I am a positive, enthusiastic person with a passion for all things creative. My main art form is drama, which I use for a variety of outcomes, with the main objective being gaining confidence. My first class drama degree focused on drama for confidence in children and young people, and I undertook a project about the meaning of happiness - which is a passion of mine.

My work explores labour separation, between class and gender. By presenting a dichotomy of public and private job materials, creating indications of construction works with materials symbolic to traditional views of women-hood. I reflect upon a dysfunctionality and insecurity of self within my future role as both an artist and a woman in construction.

I write short fiction and poetry. I’m published online, in print, and placed in regional/ national poetry competitions. I write for online arts & culture journals. I wrote (now teach) creative writing at Leeds Arts Uni. I teach postgrads how to make writing part of a creative practice. My doctoral research was on writing, art, power & normalcy- and I’m a fan of post-humanist theory.

Works are formed as a catalogue of on-going research, using a framework of personal experience to investigate the repercussions of absent documentation, questioning the reliability of the image in the construction and preservation of memory, via the mechanism of photography. I came to this research through an educational route, informed by personal and professional experience.

I have been developing my art work over the last 20 years through various mediums. I work around family commitments and supporting my husband in our latex clothing business. My passion for art means I usually fit in some kind of sketch, painting, artwork daily, as this improves my mental health. I try different styles, but i seem to gravitate towards doll like illustrations and faces.

I have been working as a freelance ceramics and glass restorer since being professionally trained in the early 1990's. As such, I have carried out projects for The British Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC, Glasgow Museums, The Conservation Centre, Salisbury and The National Palace Museum, Taiwan. I decided to re-utilise my skills accumulated over several decades and apply them to canvas.
