    My passion is for fabric and stitch, my background in illustration, fashion and hand-embroidery. Recently my practice has grown using new methodologies to create large-scale installations and interactions. My work is generous and inclusive, acting like a type of therapy, offered to the viewer with gentle humour. Methods I use are traditionally craft related, all familiar childhood activities.

    Rachel Anderson is a textile artist and designer working from East Yorkshire. Primarily specialising in freemotion machine embroidery, Rachel also works with fabric design, mark making and other textile techniques. Her textile works often combine structure and fluidity, designing fabrics based on hand marbled prints which juxtapose the rigidity of the drawn elements that sit on the surface.

    I am a Yorkshire lass from Barnsley. I recently graduated from Hull with a fine art degree. I have immersed myself in creativity to cope with a long term illness fibromyalgia.     Graduate from the Royal college of art. 7 years ago I moved from my birth place of south east London to East Sussex which has impacted my art considerably. Though from childhood I always felt happier in the countryside, I felt a juxtaposition between living in a city and infrequently visiting the countryside now I am here feeling more inspired by my surroundings.

    For over twenty years, my practice as a community artist has centred on participation, storytelling, and collective making. Recently, through Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice fund, I have refocused on my personal creative work - exploring the intersection between Chinese and European folklore, inherited craft traditions, and the shifting nature of cultural identity.

    I work in the medium of film/video and photography. I studied photography before going on to study fine art at Leeds where I specialised in video art. As a filmmaker I've made creative films for Screen Yorkshire and North West Vision in England. My photographs have been exhibited online and in galleries, both in the UK and internationally.
