Hi I’m Kate. I generally use a wide range of media to draw, paint and sculpt my work. I also tend towards abstract or realistic with occasional pieces in the middle ground. Ever since I fell ill with hashimoto’s my life has been one medical battlefield to another. I nearly lost my life three times. Now I’m a Zebra (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) and am finally back doing something I love, creating.

Kate Wray is a visually impaired sculptor and installation artist based in Yorkshire. Wray's work ultimately derives from her past experiences of working with a vast array of people. Becoming infatuated with the human mind has made Wray question relationships, exploring those held between humans and nature:how the human species have developed a civilization that runs alongside a natural world.

I am inspired by everyday observation and experience, with a twist of imagination. I utilise a variety of materials in 2D and 3D - I paint, draw, photograph, work digitally, use paper pulp and incorporate textile. Recently I have spent time learning green wood skills, which I am now incorporating into my work. I live in the city but enjoy outdoor spaces in natures' seasons.

I make what scares me AND WHAT BRINGS ME HOPE………My work is an exploration of power, violence and inequality in society, but also a search for hope, certainty and connection. The disciplines I employ are as varied as the materials I use.
