    My photographic practice is focused on the idea of ambiguity and the slippage between the photograph and truth, surface and meaning. Starting from a conceptual engagement with research, my practice often entails carefully constructed images that explore recurring themes of mythologising, performance, human relations, human endeavour and philosophy.

    Sophie Hannah Walker is a mixed media contemporary artist who has been practicing and exhibiting for over 30 years. Currently her work is about 'The Art of Feeling Better' which is a combination of the therapeutic effects on the artist when creating work and making canvases designed to have a subliminal positive effect on the viewer. Sophie was shortlisted for the Royal Academy in 2019 .

    as a child just mixing colour brought endless amusement and no wall was safe from a crayon or felt tip. As a teenager my art was a place for hard feelings, as a young adult an income while travelling, no pavement safe with chalk around. As a mother my art began a new life of celebration in outdoor spaces, and reflecting on my children's world. Now the big picture is my subject. To see and reflect

    My art practice combines paper collage art and illustration with sharing my creative journey as a self-taught artist.     I work in the medium of film/video and photography. I studied photography before going on to study fine art at Leeds where I specialised in video art. As a filmmaker I've made creative films for Screen Yorkshire and North West Vision in England. My photographs have been exhibited online and in galleries, both in the UK and internationally.
