    I am by definition an abstract artist who mainly specialises in painting. I use acrylic paint and mixed media to create my artworks, typically on large abandoned photographs, paper or canvas. The general theme behind my work is rooted in environmental issues and explores the contrasts between a natural existence and a synthetic environment that many of us find ourselves living in.

    I am a lifelong self taught artist who at a point in life when many of my peers retired began a project with three artists friends to firmly place creativity, artistic exploration & development of practise firmly at the centre of life by opening a gallery, studio & workshop.     Born in Hertfordshire in 1963, Rob now works between his studio near Rye in East Sussex and his cottage in St Ives, Cornwall. The sea and surrounding countryside has always been a great inspiration for my art, whether they are expressed through an abstract, semi-abstract or representational approach.

    Relative newcomers to the visual arts, Bristol-based Fuszerka Kolektyw paint and write together, creating art in contrasting and complementary styles. With a firm belief that serious does not imply solemn, paintings explore different ways of looking at subjects, from figurative to more abstract and expressive approaches, always maintaining a sense of fun.

    My work is completely concerned with context, process and materials. I make paintings, drawings and collages, often on a very large scale. I use the dark room as an experimental space, making camera less imagery and double exposed 35mm. I use Lo-Fi audio techniques collecting field recordings and glitched samples.

    My work anchors me to reality, a lens of visual translation that enables me to attempt to understand human thought and behaviour at a deeper level. The unreality of day to day existence is relentless, a maze of whirring dualities and circus mirrors, through paint I tune in to the collective consciousness and become a translator for the seen but not heard.
