    Milena Makani is a German abstract painter based in London, living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Utilizing acrylics, watercolors and inks on mineral stone sheets, Makani created anatomic and deeply psychological abstractions that lend a visual language to her lived experience with disabilities and permanent pain as she explores themes of resilience, energy, serenity, fragility, stoicism and joy.

    Working with clay has always been my passion and escape. I graduated with a BEd Hons majoring in art and ceramics and taught for many years. Following early retirement I work in my studio in Hexham, Northumberland where I make small scale ceramic sculpture based on my immediate environment and on my relationships with landscape and within family.

His work explores how institutions, images and viewers produce meaning through observation, classification and participation.     My work touches on themes of belonging, mythology, memory, identity and the female gaze. In my creative practice, I enjoy exploring the symbolism behind water, waterlilies, lotus flowers, landscapes and the female body. I believe that my mixed heritage has been a rich source of material to work with, as I experiment with oil paint and mixed media on canvas.

    Sarah Needham is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art Painting MA programme. She is based in London in Kindred Studios in North Kensington. Her work is research based, ecologically sensitive, using sustainable oil paint using linseed oil egg yolk and chalk, like Rembrandt. She often uses recycled Atches huile cotton rag paper, and the pigments and so palette arises from her research.

    I am by definition an abstract artist who mainly specialises in painting. I use acrylic paint and mixed media to create my artworks, typically on large abandoned photographs, paper or canvas. The general theme behind my work is rooted in environmental issues and explores the contrasts between a natural existence and a synthetic environment that many of us find ourselves living in.

    I am a London based artist who uses photography, digital manipulation, and sound to create images, video, and installations. Searching beneath the surface by unpacking the layers that we keep secure is a fundamental aspect of my work. Often nostalgic, sometimes beautifully melancholic, I make tender unsettling images drawn from my reflections of human behaviour.
