    A relative newcomer to the world of art. Winner of the King Lear Prize for Art (Beginners) 2023. Working mostly in acrylics but also in pencil. I have an eclectic range of artwork from pop art to seascapes, cloud studies and flowers to pencil drawings. Currently I am experimenting with pallet knife painting and achieving some interesting results.

    My name is Meg Bristol. I am an acrylic painter from Cornwall. I currently studying at the University of Leeds, working in acrylic depictions of the ordinary. My work is designed to appeal to those who enjoy the beauty of a quiet moment. I use my work to slow down time, taking a closer look at the familiar buildings we pass idly on the way to work, or relaxing in the memory of a cleansing bath.

    Michala Gyetvai is more than a virtuoso technician; she is first and foremost a visionary whose work belongs to a very British Romantic landscape tradition. Her intimate contact with landscape revealed in her childhood recollections is still the driving force behind her work.     After studying Textile Design at University Deborah became a secondary school Art teacher for nearly ten years. However these days she enjoys working from home on her paintings and models along with running workshops in the local area.     Currently my practice is built around transition, on curiosity and discovery, I have no fixed media on how to create works with depth, texture, and atmosphere, but it happens. I layer can colour, gesture, and even fragments of text to form pieces that feel alive with energy and meaning, inviting viewers to pause and connect.

    As a child I loved to draw and paint, and as an adult would loved to have had the time to follow it up. However, work and family kept me busy. When I retired I promised myself I would join an art class and take it seriously. Though I don't hold a degree, I am still being very well taught, by excellent professional teachers .,so you are never too old to learn about something you love doing.

    Lyndsay’s contemporary jewellery collection, ‘Na Mara’, is inspired by messy compositions of debris created by the tides along the Scottish Coast where she’s based. Drawing is a vital part of her process, using mark-making to develop abstract impressions from the landscape. Based on the drawn-line, she creates tactile pieces which vary with each iteration; as with a drawing, each is unique.
