    In the last year I have returned to full time education following a decade of being a stay at home parent. Juggling artistic practices with the mundane and often seeing the world through the eyes of young children curious about the little things. I am a member of Seacourt Print Workshop and continuing on at college studying ceramics.

    For over 30 years, Tessa has photographed rural life, working closely with individuals and communities to investigate how the landscape is shaped by humans. From hill farmers near her home in N Yorkshire to Icelandic puffin hunters, from Romanian nomadic shepherds to Lincolnshire flower farmers her projects reveal the fascinating intricacies of the dependencies between people, work and the land.

    A mixed media artist; I create with acrylic paint, collage and printing techniques to produce paintings and monotypes. I play with different methods with the aim of making the accidental intentional. This constant evolution towards authenticity in process, content and scale is seeking to convey my emotional responses to the landscape and nature as a collaboration between the two.

    I make predominantly papier-mâché sculptures. I love its immediacy, expressiveness and physicality. My work often has a performative quality. They are not just sculptures — they’re personalities, each holding part of my own identity, emotions, and fears, reflecting some of my own mental health challenges but also inviting a shared recognition.

    I am a Northern Irish artist currently based in Kent Using found objects and recycled materials, I tend to work in response to specific sites, indoors and out. Reclaimed materials often retain the traces or scars of their former use but can be given a new energy charge when redeemed. I sometimes combine these with materials held to have more value or impact, such as stained glass, itself recycled

    My practice crosses performance, sculpture and moving image, inhabiting a flickering state between rational and non-rational realities, to create powerful mash-ups, hybrid half-truths, not-quite-lies. My work is in the Saatchi Collection and was exhibited in ‘Known Unknowns’ at Saatchi Gallery throughout 2018. I have performed at the Tate Modern and at performance festivals in UK and abroad.

    Joanna Jowett is a Leeds-based artist working across photography, printmaking, artist publishing and text. Her work explores memory, matrescence, grief and our relationship with the natural world, with a focus on the quiet, tender and vulnerable parts of being human. She is a member of Leeds Print Workshop & Aire Street Darkroom and is co-director of COPY, an artists' publishing platform.
