I am a traditionally trained figurative sculptor. I specialise in portraiture and statues for both private and public commissions. I originally trained in the theatre as a prop maker and scenic artist so have experience of working in theatre and TV workshops to tight budgets and schedules. I now work from my private studio in Cheshire, creating figurative sculptures large and small.

Every artist has a metaphorical box of tools. Each will be different depending on skill, life experiences and interests. My practice draws upon my past scientific and management persona. Currently studying for an MA in Visual Communications I work with a mixture of traditional and digital media, layering and distilling data and information to get to a final concentrate.

I am an artist predominantly working in print. I have recently been working on a series of Later-Day Saints inspired by medieval medical saints found in The Welcome Collection. I have been involved in many public art projects and am a keen educator. I run print workshops in my studio and at The Whitworth in Manchester. I also have a portable press for visiting schools and art groups.

I am a photographer, working with the concept of life, death and memory depicted by images of water and childhood exploration. Having survived a major stroke I am fascinated by the workings of the brain and the meditative effects of water in it's many forms. I hope to provoke feelings of wonder and intrigue with my photographic practice.

Having started my career in Graphic design, I returned to study Fine Art and painting. Currently I am also completing a research based MA in the History of Art as I felt to need to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of art, contemporary and historically to aid my work. I work from my studio in North Oxfordshire but travel widely, always with a sketch to hand.
