I enjoy painting from that part of me that is in touch with the doing, the colours and the canvas. My desire is to have an iterative relationship with the canvas.. Through this process meanings are revealed. My art to date has critically explored materials, politics, hegemony, existentialism, values and many more. It is not a straight path and there were many potholes and cliff edges.

I'm a British artist working in paper. I studied art in London, initially at the Sir John Cass School of Art, and then at Central Saint Martin’s majoring in sculpture. Largely human-centred and moving between figuration and abstraction, the work explores ideas around the opposites: fragile/robust; surface/subsurface; build/raze; expose/conceal with a deepening focus on current social issues.

My research and work aims to invoke greater understanding on topics which are often difficult to discuss or over looked. I use sound as my primary tool in conveying these topics in the form of installation or composition as well as photography and Video if necessary.

I am a visual artist living and working in London. My practice centres on photographic media with an interest in feminist agendas and performance utilising abstraction and surrealist aesthetics. Blending these elements together, the work I make uses my experience as a black British woman as a starting point to explore issues of representation and agency via collage, moving image and photography.

From coal dust mining portraits to demolition stories my practice is a salvage operation looking for hope in the overlooked. Art transforming things, values, people and places. Working with diverse media and participants to ‘disenchant through enchantment’ - questioning the status quo through imagination, action and collaboration.
