    Pink and grAy (Sylvia Causer and Andrea Freeman) are a Live Art/Performance Art Duo based in the North of England. We met whilst studying for M.A. Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University and discovered that we hold shared ideas and concerns. We have worked together professionally since 2014, soon producing a manifesto which informs all of our work.

    I specialise in watercolour and acrylic paintings and have been painting as long as I can remember. It's my love and passion. I love to celebrate the beauty in the natural world around us! I find myself drawn to the sea and so many of my paintings focus on the ocean, and also the moon which controls our powerful seas.

    Life has taken me through many twists, turns and shifts during which my creative passion has ebbed and flowed but never faded. The last 5 years has seen my definitive return to art. Following an introduction to mixed media in the summer of 2018 I embarked on a 3 year intensive artistic study. Following this I moved to North Yorkshire to set up the Well House Haven Art Retreat venue

    I am a UK based artist with many years experience in the Fine Art field. My work in abstract mixed-media is driven by an academic foundation that includes a comprehensive range of qualifications from a DipHe to an MA, MPhil and Fellowship.     I mostly paint, draw and print. While usually figurative my subjects are rarely quite human. I'm also interested in landscape that bears the oft-troubling traces of human presence. These are dark times. I feel perpetually shocked that we have ended up here. I try to explore this in my work. I committed to making art seriously late in life. Late enough to do it frivolously.

    Who am I? A question I will always struggle with. I have two sides- my feminine and my masculine . My routes of action films and sci-fi has merged with my love for glamour, pop culture, costume and character. The questioning of identity and gender within myself and society has led way to a desire to explore this and other social topics through my work. Society is my biggest inspiration.
